What languages are taught at our school?
In addition to German and Arabic, English and French are also taught as additional languages at our school.
English instruction begins here as early as 2nd grade, while French is introduced starting in 6th grade. According to the Swiss curriculum, English instruction generally begins in the 3rd grade. Given our international and multilingual school community, we have made a conscious decision to offer an age-appropriate and playful introduction to the English language starting in the 2nd grade. This allows students to build their initial language skills and a basic vocabulary early on, while at the same time developing a love for the language.
The early promotion of multilingualism is an important part of our school philosophy and helps students navigate different linguistic and cultural contexts with confidence and ease.
What curriculum does our school follow?
Our school follows the Swiss Curriculum 21 of the Canton of Uri. This forms the basis for our instruction and determines not only the subjects and class schedule but also the curriculum, competencies, and learning objectives.
Curriculum 21 combines subject-specific learning with the development of cross-curricular skills and helps students apply their knowledge independently and transfer it to various real-life situations.
You can view the relevant regulations and curriculum guidelines at the following link.
When does the school day begin and end?
Our school day begins at 8:00 a.m., and lessons start at 8:15 a.m. Depending on the timetable, regular lessons end after the 6th period at 1:35 p.m. or after the 8th period at 3:05 p.m.
Students whose lessons end after the 6th period have the opportunity to participate in our voluntary afternoon programme until 3:05 p.m.
Can I register my child during the school year?
You can register your child at any time by completing the online registration form via the following link.
Admission is subject to successfully passing the admission test and availability of a place in the desired grade. For applications during the school year, we also assess each case individually to determine whether admission at that point in the school year is appropriate and organisationally feasible.
What activities and events are offered at our school?
At our school, students can look forward to a varied school year filled with numerous cultural, athletic, and creative activities.
Together, we celebrate traditional swiss festivals and customs such as St. Martin’s Day, St. Nicholas Day, Christmas, “Schmutziger Donnerstag” (Carnival), and Easter. A special highlight is our Christmas market in December, which brings the entire school community together. The summer festival is also an integral part of our school year and offers an opportunity to celebrate together with students, families, and staff.
At the same time, we celebrate important Egyptian traditions and festivals. For example, Ramadan holds a special place in our school life and helps make the cultural diversity of our school community visible and tangible.
In addition, project days, sports days, hiking trips, and sports and art projects enrich everyday school life. They create space for shared experiences, creativity, physical activity, and learning beyond the classroom.
What should I do if my child is sick?
If your child is sick and unable to attend school, please inform the school office and the responsible class teacher by 8:10 a.m. at the latest.
You can report your child’s absence by calling 010 279 333 43 or by sending an email to the school office and the respective class teacher. For kindergarten children, please also inform the responsible kindergarten teacher.
